I won’t encourage you to do a short sale, the same way I won’t tell you to just foreclose on your property.
I don’t think it’s my job to tell you what to do. Instead, I want to be your guide—to share everything I’ve learned the last three years working with four dozen short sales. It could be a dark tunnel; I have friends and family who have gone through the same thing. But there is hope, one that should be supported by knowledge and research.
Yes, there are many advantages of doing a short sale but their significance has also been exaggerated by real estate pundits. They deserve a reality shot in the bony part of their arm.
